I have four main goals when it comes to feeding my hungry family. First, I want to give my three boys balanced meals without too much salt and sugar. Second, I want to feed them fast, because after school there’s always football or Beavers or swimming. Thirdly, I want to keep the shopping bill as low as I can, without cutting back on the amount they eat. And perhaps most importantly, I want them to eat and enjoy the food I serve them because they’re growing boys. So when I was asked to try feeding my family on nothing but frozen food for a week I was a bit doubtful. I thought the food would be crammed with extra additives, salt and sugar, and that it would be less tasty than the fresh food I usually buy. I headed to Iceland to work out a menu of frozen dishes, including breakfasts, lunch and dinner, to try out for a week and - without warning my boys or husband - launched into 7 days of frozen food. What was it like? I don’t often use the freezer for anything more … [Read more...] about I fed my family on only frozen food for a week – how much I saved and what I learnt
How can i help my family
MY husband forked out hundreds of pounds on hotel rooms to have “brilliant” sex with a woman he met online – while I was struggling to make ends meet.He is 43 and I am 37. He lost his job last year and a lot of feelings came out which he had never talked about before. He was jealous of our kids and jealous that I could show love for the family and other people when he found it impossible. He seemed to get better and started to make more of an effort with all of us. He’d spend time playing with the kids, who were less anxious and more relaxed.Just as I thought we were getting back to normal, he dropped the bombshell that he’d been seeing this woman, who is 41.He said they had met on a lonely hearts site and she listened to his problems and made him feel like a new man. He said their sex life was brilliant too.I could not believe what he was telling me, so coldly and calmly. I went into meltdown. I dragged him to the doctor and when he told him the whole … [Read more...] about Hubby loves sex, but not with me – how can I get past his affair with internet lover?
I HAD wild, drunken sex with one of my mate’s exes at the weekend. What was I thinking? She’s known as “easy” but I went into total meltdown when my girlfriend finished with me and now I can’t stop acting crazy.I bumped into this girl in a new club which recently opened in town. She was with a bunch of friends but we met up at the bar.She looked really hot and I knew she would be my next conquest.I am 24 and she is 22.We flirted all night and she didn’t hesitate when I suggested we go somewhere quieter. We went back to mine and had amazing sex, even though we were both pretty drunk. She left soon after and I know I won’t be after a repeat performance. No one replaces my girlfriend for me.I was with her for more than a year and everything seemed so fantastic. She is 21.Then her dad died and everything changed. She became all distant and weird with me but we carried on going out and were even looking for a flat so we could move in together.I thought it … [Read more...] about I’m acting crazy after my ex left me – I can’t keep living like this but how can I move on?
WITH British kids spending more and more time glued to a screen every year, it’s easy to think it’s a normal habit. But while handing your child your iPad may seem like an easy way to keep them occupied, too much screen time could have negative consequences. If you want to reduce your child’s risk of obesity, aggression and sleepless nights – it may be best to keep them entertained in other ways. Here’s some top tips for reducing the time they spend on the Apple tablets…If your kids know they are only allowed a certain amount of time on their iPad per day, they are likely to use it wisely. So if they’re only allowed one hour in the evenings, make sure it’s AFTER they’ve completed their homework. And be strict on sticking to the rules, even if they’re in the middle of a game or TV show.iPads are instinctive, meaning even toddlers can play along. But games can be addictive, so if you make your kids wait until they’re older … [Read more...] about From leading by example to not giving into demands… How can I get my kids to spend less time on the iPad?

I HAVE been meeting up for passionate sex with my first love – but how can I leave a woman I’ve lived with for the past nine years?I am a man of 37. The woman I share my life with is 34. I love her but our sex life is a total disaster.I used to have brilliant sex with my first love and was all too conscious of what I was missing. Then one day, she contacted me through Facebook. She told me I was the great love of her life and I was knocked sideways. We knew one another from school and she was a lovely, funny girl as well as great in bed.We met for a meal and it became a regular thing. My partner thought I was down the pub.The next step was to book a hotel room so we could “talk in private” but there was not much talking. She is 36 now and as lovely as ever.I could not wait to get her naked on the bed and ever since that amazing night we have met up for sex whenever we can.I don’t know what to do.If I leave my partner she will be devastated but she endlessly … [Read more...] about I’ve been having passionate sex with my first love… but how can I leave my lover?
Dear DeidreIt has been going on for several weeks and is brief but so exciting.I am 31 and married with a small daughter. I found this 24-year-old guy attractive the moment he came to work in our block. He is in charge of security. I like him more than my husband who is 39 but in some ways very old for his age.We first got talking when I forgot my shopping and went back for it.He sat on my desk and chatted and I found it impossible to tear myself away. So the next day I forgot something on purpose. And I did the same the next day. Each evening we talked and flirted a bit and the time just flew. He told me I was beautiful and wished I was not married. I wished it too and I told him so.It wasn’t long before we kissed and then more. The sex is great. It became a regular thing, just on Wednesdays when my mum looks after my daughter and my husband is not home until late.I think part of the thrill is the fear that someone might come back for something they have forgotten.Sometimes we go … [Read more...] about Since I started my affair with a guy from work, Wednesdays have now become my secret sex days

She is still thin. Rima A. has gained a little weight, but the effects of the war in Syria can still be seen on her after a year and a half in Germany. Rima smiles as she opens the door. It is a wide, open smile, almost carefree, but when she talks about her hometown Aleppo, her lightheartedness turned into sadness - almost as if you could see a film running in her eyes about everything she's experienced. She has almost forgotten that the Syrian war has entered its seventh year. "I have lost my sense of time. The war has already gone on forever,” the now 25-year-old woman says. "We always thought that it would quickly end. But now I know that I was naive.” Rima A. sips her coffee. Her thin fingers clutch the the handle of the coffee cup, like she needs to hold on to something. Her parents have sent her coffee grounds through a friend, who like Rima arrived in Germany on an international study program for Syrians. The smell reminds her of … [Read more...] about Aleppo: ‘I’ve said goodbye to my family forever’
She was kidnapped by Colombian guerrillas and held captive for six years in the jungle. Since her rescue in July, 2008, she has been pushing for an end to the civil war in her country. A few days before the signing of the peace treaty between the Colombian government and the FARC rebels on September 26th, DW reporter Astrid Prange met her in Paris, her second home. She appeared calm, friendly and strong-minded, but even in this moment full of hope, the hostage drama and politics still determine her life. DW: What was your first thought when your heard about peace negotiations between the Colombian government and FARC rebels in 2012? Ingrid Betancourt: We were not really surprised by the news. But even though we were expecting it, when it happened I found myself very emotional. I remember I went to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur to give thanks, and it was amazing because I found so many other Colombians doing the same. We had some hours of just celebrating, hugging and crying. What … [Read more...] about Ingrid Betancourt: ‘I forgive my tormentors’
